IT Consulting Services
IT Consulting Services.Decide What Comes First.
Assessments, technology roadmaps and vCIO advisory for leaders who need a plan before the budget is committed.
Why Clients Call
Three problems a plan solves.
Most of this work is already approved in principle. What is missing is the order.
Budget
Everything is a priority
A firewall replacement, a Microsoft renewal and a new site all look urgent. We put them in an order finance can actually fund.
Vendors
Every quote answers a different question
The carrier proposes bandwidth, the security vendor proposes controls, the cloud vendor proposes migration. We define the requirement they should all be answering.
Projects
The date is set, the gaps are not
Circuits, licensing, identity and support often have nobody against them. We assign those before the schedule starts slipping.
What HTG Does
Three ways to get the decision made.
Start with one question, or bring the whole year. Scope follows the decision, not a package.
IT Assessments
Find out where you stand
- Systems, contracts and support arrangements reviewed
- Risks, gaps and missing records written down
- What needs deeper technical checking, flagged
Roadmap Consulting
Put the work in order
- Projects, renewals and risks in one sequence
- Cost bands and the dates decisions are needed
- An owner against every item
vCIO Services
Senior IT input on a schedule
- Regular reviews of budget, renewals and risk
- Vendor and platform decisions as they come up
- No full-time CIO role to fill
What You Get
Two documents you keep.
Short for a single decision, longer for a full roadmap. Same two things either way.
The recommendation
What we would do, and why
- The options we looked at and what each would mean
- What we found, and what still needs checking
The plan
What happens, in what order
- Sequence, budget ranges and the dates you need to decide
- An owner against each item, on your side and ours
- What finished looks like and who supports it afterwards
How It Works
Four steps, start to handoff.
Scope
We agree the decision you need to make, and by when.
Review
We look at the systems, contracts and history behind it.
Recommend
You get options, a sequence, cost ranges and owners.
Hand off
We stay involved through approval and into delivery.
After the Plan
HTG can deliver what we recommend.
Or work alongside the team and providers you already have.
Where HTG Works
Planned from Ridgefield.
Consulting and vCIO work runs from HTG’s Ridgefield, Washington team, for organizations across Oregon, Washington and distributed U.S. sites.
Scope and any onsite requirements are confirmed for the locations involved before the engagement starts.
Questions
What people ask before the first session.
What does an IT assessment include?
A review of your systems, contracts, support arrangements and the problems that keep coming back, written up so you can see what is solid, what is missing and what needs a closer technical look. Where security or governance is part of the decision, we may structure the review around the NIST Cybersecurity Framework or COBIT.
What do I actually get from roadmap consulting?
An agreed order of work. You can see what has to happen first, what can wait, what each item depends on, who owns it, roughly what it costs and when you need to decide. Depth follows scope — a single decision and a multi-year plan are different pieces of work.
How is a vCIO different from managed IT?
A vCIO works on budgets, renewals, vendor choices and risk — the planning layer. Managed IT owns the daily running: support, administration, monitoring and maintenance. Plenty of clients use both, written as separate agreements so it stays clear which covers what.
Can you work with our internal IT team and current vendors?
Yes. We work alongside internal IT, finance and operations, and we can review proposals or contracts your existing vendors have already put forward. The engagement sets out who supplies information, who approves, who does the work and who supports it afterwards.
What does an engagement cost, and how long does it take?
It depends on how many locations and people are involved, how good the existing documentation is, how many options are on the table and when you need the decision. Bigger pieces can be phased so useful findings arrive early. We price against scope after the first session.
Start With One Decision
Bring the one that keeps getting deferred.
A renewal, a site opening, an architecture change or a project that keeps moving. The first session defines the question and what we would need to answer it.
